Although
Wurster technology is used in a variety of industries, it was initially
developed for the pharmaceutical industry. Original Wurster patents
focused on tablet coating and the technology can still be used in that
capacity today on sufficiently robust tablets. Nevertheless, vented-pan
coating technology evolved to address the majority of tablet coating
applications.
Wurster
technology has found its greatest niche in the coating of powders,
granules, crystals, and capsules in the pharmaceutical and other markets.
Coating Place serves the Wurster fluid bed coating needs of all areas of
the pharmaceutical market including Rx prescription drugs, over the
counter (OTC) medications, and DEA Schedule II through V controlled
substances. Applications are primarily oral dosage products and include
coating functions such as taste-masking, enteric delivery, controlled
release, sustained release, delayed release, granulating, and drug
application.
Coating
Place is FDA registered and operates to pharmaceutical GMP
standards.
Vertical Integration with Analytical Services and Documents
Coating Place is prepared to
offer additional vertically integrated operations such as blending,
tableting, pan coating, and analytical support to meet needs of projects
or markets. Staff is available to appropriately document technology
transfers including transfer protocols and final reports for both
analytical method and process transfers.
Rx Prescription Drugs
Since it’s founding, Coating
Place has been involved with the prescription drug market. As the original
Wurster technology source, Coating Place was involved in the early
development of many prescription drug applications. The innovative spirit
of Coating Place has the ability to rapidly adapt to the specific needs of
prescription products including extensive batch size range (~0.01 Kg to
~600 Kg), special processing needs, and unique analytical testing
requirements.
Over the counter (OTC)
Over the counter products
represent a large market and, often, large volumes. Coating Place has the
capacity to meet large volume needs and the ability and willingness to
expand operations as necessary to volume requirements and provide added
value.
DEA Schedule II – V Controlled Substances
Coating Place was granted
license to work with DEA Schedule II–V controlled substances in 2003.
